Childhood Museum

Status: Completed
Year of Completion: 2015
Gross Built Area: 128 m²
Location: A small village near Tabriz, Iran

The project is a Museum of Childhood, commissioned by a pleasant old man who asked me to design it for him. The site is located in a small village near Tabriz, a city in the west of Iran — the man’s birthplace. I tried to make the spatial language very pure. At the center lies a museum of the old man’s childhood objects and memory archive, enclosed by thick red walls that organize the space.

The project unfolds over four levels; the upper two were intended for solitude and for observing the pristine landscape around. The uncertain presence of the ceiling creates a space for the fantasies of an old man longing to return to his childhood.
