The Bodies (Tan-Ha)

Presented as a solo exhibition at the Cultural Center, University of Stuttgart, in 2024
Gender is an integral part of my artwork.
One of my collections is called Bodies, which has two sides of meaning in the Persian language. It is a metaphor in Persian, and it means both body and loneliness. The body monologues with itself and then dialogues with others’ bodies.
As a woman, the first space I experienced was the space of my body. My body has changed a lot from childhood to today; for me, it is a means to understand the world in which I live.
The body is my most important source of inspiration in my works. My body in my country is not in my possession and control, and it is power, dictatorship, and religion that dominate it, and for me, this issue is associated with concepts such as aggression, rebellion, unrest, being surrounded, fighting, being wounded, and being free.
